Gaskets

Sun Apr 30, 2006 5:34 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Should I buy new gaskets and seals directly from Honda, or is a full kit ok like the one listed below? I know OEM is probably better, but is it that big a deal, and is this gasket set any good?

Hmm... Not sure, so perhaps someone else knows, but Honda are VERY particular about materials and performance, and the gasket paper will compress a certain amount in each area, which I'm sure they will have accounted for. These might behave differently...

Looks like a bargain though!

Thanks. I just wish Honda made a set so I wouldn't have to research each one individualy.

Local dealers are pretty much out the question. Thay don't have any listings for NSR parts because they were sold sold in the USA. Some parts I'm sure are interchangeable, but most will have to be ordered from the UK.

They weren't sold in the UK either, according to my local (offical) Honda dealer any dealer can order any part, you just need the part number.

Of course I'll give that a try, but I'm not expecting much. I have a good source for Honda parts.

I have an MC28 manual myself, a small personal stock of gaskets and stuff, and am currently working on setting up my own source direct from Japan.

I would stay away from the kits. Honda parts are best. And my manual doesnt show any gasket "kits", nor do the Honda dealers in Japan.
