Parts Manual

Is there a way to change the parts diagrams from white on black to black on white for easier printing (and reading)?

I don't think Andy wants the manual printed or copied, as that's why I presume he's disabled the right click feature...

Ergonomically, white on black is supposed to be as easy to read as black on white. Equal contrast! Wink

At first right click didn't work for me, but now it does. I need a way to explode these images and print them. Does anybody have a PDF copy on CD they could sell me. I see them for most other bikes on ebay, but not the NSR.

James,

I had the parts manual in black type on white back. Then Andy talked me into swapping it out as we merged our stuff under one name (NSR-WORLD.com).

As for in PDF format? I never put it into PDF, I am sure Andy would have told me if he did (and sent it to me I would hope, right Andy).

Thanks,

No Charles, I have never converted it to PDF, although I could.

"j911brick", Charles produced the MC21 and MC28 sections (and administers the OPM), and I have done the MC16 and most of the MC18. White on black is for 2 reasons. The first, as Charles says, it is in keeping with the colours of the website, and Maxim is correct, it still offers the same contrast as black on white. The second, which is a happy accident really, makes it a pain in the ass to copy!

The whole concept of NSR-WORLD.COM is too keep its' users and information on the Site, and not to put it onto individuals hard drives! That way the Site gets to expand as the number of users grow, and the knowledge base does the same, as the information here is discussed on the Forum.

If you want a parts manual in black on white then I will be happy to sell you one, but it will cost you around $75 and be in Japanese.

I guess the principle is right, but not everybody can or will, take their laptop in the garage or on the track, so a paper copy is very handy and can be renewed when it gets torn or too dirty. And not all tracks and private garages have wireless LAN with direct access to NSR-World yet Wink

An original partsbook is of course copyright of Honda and no one else (and is available in english too) and I have a scan of that.

I also have a .pdf and a .html but they were made from the material that came out of Charles and Andys big effort to make a clean and readable copy of the parts book, so I will not distribute them if Andy/Charles is against it. ( Oh Yes, I did get a copy directly from them, in the wee hours of the birth of NSR-World site)

The $75 I quoted is for a genuine Honda Parts Manual, not a scanned copy in PDF format on a CDROM.

I don't expect everyone to have the luxuary of an internet connection in thier workshop or garage, or to even take a laptop in there, but how often do you need a complete Parts Manual in there either?!

If the parts manual diagrams are being used simply as a reference to how the components fit together, then surely the odd page printed out in white on black is no great hardship?

The MC16/18 Parts Manual was a total of 200 pages to scan. Not only did I scan it, but I then optimised all the images for both clarity and download time. I then updated the translation to "proper" English as some of the MC21/28 translations are "questionable" - no offence Charles!

I didn't do all that just to make it available on a $4.99 CDROM that only about 5 people on the planet will ever consider buying!

I just find working paper manuals easier sometimes. I was going to ask about the quality of the manual you were offering, but if its factory then I guess its not an issue. $75 is steep for a parts manual, but I'll take you up on the offer.

I'm not deliberately trying to be offensive, but if you want to try and get one in from Japan for much less than $75 then you are welcome to try!

It would probably be cheaper if I didn't have to pay to have it shipped around the world twice, but I don't mind thowing a couple bucks your way to support the site.
