Oil Injector Pump Help

Fri Apr 14, 2006 3:40 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Help! I'm reassembling an MC21 for a friend, but know very little about it. Got the clutch installed and the cover on using an on-line parts microfiche as a guide, but when I fill the 2-stroke oil tank it drains down into the clutch cover. Trying to see how it works, it makes no sense to me at all. Can anybody tell me how the injector pump works and what might be wrong?

TIA,

There's a little seal on the underside of the 2/ oil pump. If it slips down the shaft the 2-stroke oil tank contents will drain into the gearbox.
Sassy owners leave the tank topped right up as an early warning system of this little beaut.

I think there's a pic of it somewhere (Andy??) but I can't find it.

Thanks!

That must be item #9 and 10 in frame E 14. I'll get the pump off this weekend and check it out.

OK, I can't find it on the parts fiche, but I think I'm missing a piece. Not only do I not have the o-ring and washer #'s 9 & 10, I don't have a shaft to put them on. Is there supposed to be a shaft that meshes with the helical portion of the waterpump drive shaft and goes up the passage to drive the oil injector pump? If so where do I get one? Or should I just run premix?

yes there is, the shaft can fall out and go missing if you take the pump off as it isn't held into the pump end by anything but the rubber seal. I would suggest a wreckers, only not in the U.S. because of rarity. I imagine running premix would be a pain if you ride the bike alot.
