Rear brake mc21 + tune Question

Tue Mar 21, 2006 5:18 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

hey guys,
quick question, can anyone tell me how thick a set of rear pads are for the mc21? Reason I ask is because my pads look fine with enough meat on them, but the piston is quite a way out and the caliper is flexing a bit. I believe this flexing action was responsible for snapping a bolt off the rotor to wheel. Sad

Also, has anybody thrown their bike on a tune scope? Any idea's what exhaust temps and c/o's should be?

Thanks guys!! Smile

There should be wear indicators on the pads, take them out and have a look, if the pads are uneven, blued or less than 3mm of meat id replace them, make sure its the correct pads for the caliper! as a rule i always change my rears every 10k regardless and fronts around 6K if not before, YOU CANT SKIMP ON BRAKES! as for breaking a bolt this shouldnt happen, is the disc warpped? is the caliper on correctly?

Cant help with the other stuff never tried, Cheers

Hey rc46, yeah there is about 3mm on each rear pad, so I guess I'll change them then. I'm guessing they come new with bout 8mm-10mm of pad when new?
Caliper is on correct, rotor is not warped, slides lubed, etc........ I was mucking around when it broke, excessive rear braking.

Thanks mate!
