hi everyone!! i just baught a nsr 250 mc 16... the guy just gave me the key the paper of ownership thats it... i have no idear how to look after the bike!! no book nothing!!! i called the guy because my red light went on a few days ago... he said that i need to change the oil... the thing is i dont know where are how... or what oil... can someone help me find a place to download the owners book or something... its giving me a head pain!!! plus have not find a service shop yet... i am in szeged hungary. lot of thanks!!!

Your new bike is a two stroke that means it uses oil all the time while it is working. You need to buy two stroke oil (like the stuff you put in lawnwowers and chain saws but buy good quality fully synthetic oil if you can) and put it in the oil tank (probably under the seat somwhere) 1 litre should last you about 400kl. Don't keep riding the bike with the red light on or it will stop working and the damage will be expensive to repair.

As Elegy says, stop riding the bike until you have put more oil in it. The damage will be expensive to repair!

If you read the introduction, model history and specification pages of this site, it will tell you quite a lot about your bike.

There are a few other MC16 owners here, so just about any question should get an answer sooner or later.

There is no handbook available for the bikes, except in Japanese. Andy, the site owner, is working on translating the Japanese manual, but it is a very hard time consuing job.

That is for the gearbox oil.

Change it now! That way you know it is good oil in there.

It is changed on a schedule as it should not be used up as you ride. Not sure what the interval is, though I'd do it every two thousand miles or every year, whichever is soonest.

so there is how manny oil i need to look after? gear box the one on the engine side... engine the one under the seat... and there is like a black tank on the forward right side of the gas tank... i am a bit confused... i dont want to damage the thing...

2-Stroke Oil: 2.2 litre
Transmission Oil: 0.9 litre (rebuild)

2-stroke oil is the one under my seat which needs to be change when red light goes on
so to my understanding there is 2 oils need looking after. the 2-stroke oil which the engine eats up with gas and the transmission oil.
transmission oil??? is it the plastic box on the front right of my gas tank? or is it the one on the right side of the engine?
does transmission oil = gear oil? the 0.55 litre drain/change... is this the screwed on cap on the right side of the engine?

I'm not sure about the MC16, is the two stroke oil definitely under the seat?
On the MC21 it's a clear tank to the right of the petrol tank.

The other fluid the bike needs is coolant. Same as most cars and bikes. Somewhere on the bike will be an expansion tank, so that as the water gets hot it can expand into the catch tank. When the engine cools down again, that fluid is drawn back into the cooling system.

This may be the other bottle you describe. Is there a pipe from it to the radiator?

OK! just to clear things up- The two stroke oil tank is on the right hand side of the fuel tank, on the MC16. the engine burns the oil so you need to keep topping it up.
The gear box oil is filled through the dip stick hole by the kick start. You drain the oil by removing thr drain plug under the engine.
only use top quality two stroke oil, i use motal or rock oil, fully synthetic. For the gear box i use 10w30 car engine oil, but not a synthetic, just a good quality oil. You should not need to keep topping up the gear box oil, unless you have a leak.

Some bikes use auto trans fluid in the gear box and no! I'm not talking about auto gear boxes here.
