bike dying after initial start up

Mon Feb 27, 2006 11:16 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

mc16..few problems

kick it over and it will tick over for around 3 to 10 seconds..I have occasionaly managed to rev it up to 6000 ish rpm and I think it sounded ok,but it gradually dies out and I think its missing on one cylinder.

kicking over there appears to be a strong spark from both plugs, but contrary to this the bottom cylinder exhaust smells slightly of fuel from the exhaust tip (not sure on this, there may be some fuel hanging around in there from before ).I have changed over the coil with the plug lead for the bottom cyclinder but didnt make a difference, any ideas ?

really appreciate any help

A little update Smile

I replaced the cdi units under the tank and its still the same,so agreed on the carbs thing, now a silly question...

how do you clean carbs ?

also, how many full turns do the air jets come out ?, I think there at 1.5 at the moment.

Any other adjustments I need to check on the carbs ? , they have been lying around since god knows when..

cheers

edited to add..

I just noticed the right side exhaust thats firing fine is dry inside the tailpie tip,the one that isnt firing is quite black and oily .. any help ?
