Going serious for a second. I think once an NSR has been de-restricted and tweeked alittle (yes max method 2) most will come up on the throttle in first gear anyway as it reaches peak torque/power. My '18 will, although its not really stock, and the '21 300 does with ease. I'm not a great fan of the clutch it method, I like power to do it!

And what's this about two-strokes not being able to engine break? I've heard this before from another 4-stroke rider...

I have stock gearing, and a tweaked engine.

If I hold the throttle wide open in first gear, the front end starts lifting around 9.5k, even with my hefty 185lbs scooted all the way up to the tank.

A little clutch action, and she lifts in second gear.

A hefty bounce and heavy clutch abuse will get it to lift a little in third.

2 strokes dont engine brake as they dont have camshafts, valves, large oil pumps and such run off the crankshaft, this stuff still turns on a 4 stroke when you shut the throttle causing the crank to slow, i think 4 strokes run higher compression as well. But there is a form of engine braking on a 2 stroke its called gearbox braking, if you ride it right you bang it down the box with the revs still high to keep it in the power band.
