Magtek vs. aluminum wheel weight

Sun Jan 22, 2006 3:43 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I've always read that the magtek wheels are "marginally" lighter than the aluminum wheels. I'm having a spirited debate with a friend over this. He thinks the magteks weigh much less. Has anyone actually weighed both of them to see the real difference?

Not weighed them as such, but on my calibrated swinging arm system, there's doesn't seem much in it at all...

I've just fitted a 5.25" technomagnesio and THAT was light. It felt a good 2Kg less...

Around 1/2 kg per wheel for the SP magteks and I believe around 2kg per wheel if you run proper RS wheels.

look at the overall weight difference between the SE and SP models and you have your answer.
