I believe powder coating the wheels is less prone to scratching and chipping. Much more durable finish.
i would powder coat the wheels.

i am having the same thoughts about my rd/rgv project
i have decide to go for paint on the wheels mainly because a friend of a freind is a s##t hot painter (i wish i knew of him when i got the nsr painted Rolling Eyes )
and there only a couple of miles up the road
i ve polished the edge of the rims so wont have to worry about chipping while tyre changing

when i was looking for powder coater i was recommened a company in great yarmouth ill see if can find there number they only do stuff apparantly

Powder coat works well on wheels. I had a set done in berkhampsted (rpi finnishers i think). Not much of a choice of colors, they just do them the same time they're doing other work. Only charged £20 a wheel and done a top job.

Sounds like powder coat is the way to go! Dream Machine have quoted £950 to do the whole bike that includes powder coat the wheels, they will pick up and deliver back when finished, sounds ok but has anyone in the midlands area used someone else who they can recomend? i could always have the wheels done by someone else, MONKEY if you read this who's doing your tail and wheels?

You will need to remove the wheel bearings don't forget, to poweder coat them. It's not a great idea to re-use them either.

I got a company called Finishline Motorcycles to do mine

http://www.finishlinemc.co.uk/finishline_motorcycles__motorcycle_accident_and_paintwork_repairs.htm

The bodywork needed a lot of finishing for a spotless paint finish (so make sure whoever you get to do it is not just going to paint the bodywork as is!), and he did all of this, took a dent out of the tank, and had the wheels powder coated, for £740 including vat....

It's far nicer quality than Dream Machine but if you use them, remember what I told you about making sure they spray the inside too and not just leave it with lovely overspray...!

i am having the wheels done by a company in Long Eaton (nottingham) like i said in my other post they are having fun removing the orange powder, the tail goes in on Friday to a guy in Melbourne (as in melbourne loop) near Dono, Fontyyy has seen a ZX4 Walker rep he did and has recomended him, he quoted me £100ish for the tail, not bad seeing as its Rothmans.
RC it should be done in a week so if you want you can have his number now or wait to see what its like, he sounds cool said he had done a Rothmans NC30 a week or so ago.
Very Happy
