anyone tell me if the big screw things (technical i know) that do the preload on the sp shock are an opposite thread??
although the shock isnt on a bike at the mo i have it in a vice the right way up as if it is on the bike and i cant get either of them to move, obviosly the top one first cos that be the locking one ...right.

Standard thread type on the rear shock.

The locking ring could well indeed be pretty tight, but remember the spring seat is probably under quite a lot of pressure.

Please teel me you've a spring compressor on there? If not, you'll likely kill yourself when the rings come off and the spring goes through your head.

Cheapest way to do it is use a bunch of tywraps spaced round the spring and tighten each one a bit at a time...
