Hi, kickstart advice please on my MC21. Last year I noticed occasionally that the kickstart didn't always hook up - just occasionally.
However, getting it ready for the summer now and it seems to be not connecting more frequently (just spinning and making the sound you get when the teeth just glance off each other) .
Dry clutch, so does the whole thing have to come out? And, if worst case scenario (broken teeth), does anyone stock new kickstart gears?

Hi Mal, long time no hear!

Yeah, the clutch assembly's going to have to come off, I'm afraid.

From the Service Manual:

Kickstarter slips


• Worn or damaged ratchet teeth of the starter ratchet
  and/or starter pinion
  
• Broken ratchet spring
  

Hopefully it's just the spring. If it's the ratchet gear, then I expect the only answer is looking out for one on eBay/Yahoo! If you're really lucky though, stick an advert in Classifieds, and maybe someone who's converted a motor to SP/HRC spec may have a kickstart assembly going spare.
