WANTED: Forum Member in the Birmingham area...

Mon Jul 18, 2005 1:23 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

During one of our many moments of childishness, StephenRC45 and I came up with a rather silly but amusing (to us anyway!) idea for a "End of Year" bash!

What we need though is a Forum Member from a pretty central location who may fancy a little bit of "event organising".

So come on, stand up and be counted guys and gals! Smile

Good call Wayne, Dave Reynolds a.k.a "elegy"... maybe I'll have to drop him a line.

Thanks.

As soon as you admit you have a problem Steve, I may consider letting you near a pub... only under strict supervision mind you! Laughing

Need someone a little further north Dave!

Don't worry, you still get the job of "NSR-WORLD.COM Autumn Event" organiser! Very Happy

Somewhere around the last weekend in August would probably be a good time!! Wink

Well I did spend three years training just outside Wolvo, and many more years visiting friends there. I know many fantastic roads, cafe's and pubs in the area.

But I'm sure there's others more qualified... Cool

If you're happy to take the job on Dave, then it's yours - just say the words!

We're after a small(ish) pub or something with an area we can hire, feeding facilities, and an overnight stay for those that want it! Smile

The plan is to have a bit of an "end of year" bash with awards like "The Bent Con-rod", "The Big Tart", and "UK Poser" etc., maybe even "Miss (Mrs) NSR-WORLD"! Wink

I want to look into it as soon as possible, so as to give as many people as much time as we can to sort their act out, and set aside the time to make it to the "do"! The central (Midlands) location is critical to get the maximum interest from as many people as possible.

The sooner we can start things moving, the sooner I can start hassling people for a bit of sponsorship too! Smile

Ideas and comments warmly welcomed!

Cheers,

Hmmm, I wonder if I can blag the runway for the day? Possibly not, as it's used for gliding, but I'm sure I can tee up a place to park the vans.

RAF Cosford, just outside Albrighton, which is North west of Wolverhampton by about 10 miles. Easy access from the M54.

I'll get back to you...

Ooh, if only! And the possibility of cheap drinkies on base too are?... Wink

Seriously though, if it could be timed so we could get some runway action it would be great, but I'm thinking of the nasty 'orrible weather we're likely to have that time of year, and the short daylight hours.

If we can get something rolling though, maybe I can ask the friendly copper here at college to see if he can have a word with the local West Midlands Cnstabulary regarding a speed gun and an off-duty traffic cop for a couple of hours! Very Happy

[edit]
Just found this too... maybe fun for £40! Smile
Radar gun hire!
