Has anyone here have tried putting/modifying an after market or self made quick shifter on their NSR250?
is it even worth doing it?

would be better if you folks mind sharing experience on what product you used from planning, start up plan to finish and using it.

Hi

If you find the need to quick shift you can try clutch less shifting which is what 2 stroke racers do.

While you have the throttle open, in gear and driving, put slight pressure on the gear shift lever. As you reach the desired rpm momentarily shut the throttle, snick the next gear up and open the throttle. No clutch required and about as smooth as you can hope for.
THIS OPERATION IS NOT FOR DOWN SHIFTING, you must still use the clutch when going down the 'box say from 4 > 3, or 3>2 and so on....

Max is spot on, I have also been doing this for as long as I can remember, but if you only ride on the road, I cant see the need, even the mighty Mick Doohan said he didn't need one. If you are worried about the mechanical consequences, don't, once you get the hang of it things will go smoothly.

When you get good at it I think it is fine to do a clutch less change on almost any bike, I'm guessing Les hasn't exploded a gearbox so far and neither have I....👍
(I think you do far more gearbox damage practicing wheelies than snicking a gear without a clutch, especially how crap at wheelies I am!)

A mate has 1 of those zx 10 r things,jonny rea replica with all the gadgets,never tried the launch control,anti wheelie or owt,and he wont let me have a go

Launch control! - I'm getting old, I thought you just pinned the throttle and fed in the clutch as much as you dared....then use the on-board inclinometer (front wheel angle of lift) to judge roughly when you are about to run out of skill!!
