Mc21 carb question

Mon Jan 01, 2018 4:17 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi all and happy new year Smile

Been pulling the carburators on my two MC21's apart and have a question regarding what's inside, as I don't think it looks the same way as in the parts manual Confused

The carbs are TA22 B type.

Have the float bowl off. Please see the pic below. I know the location of the slow jet and the main jet (both removed in the picture). But the other brass pipe? It could be the Power jet, but in the parts manual they look different i think. The tubes got #55 stamped on them, so some kind of jet i must be.

The carbs have been sitting on the bikes for some years with gas/oil mixture in the bowls, so the jets have changed color over time. Would they need replacement for new or do you think they're still fine? Just thinking if the gas has "been eating" the material?

Kind regards
Martin

Mine are the same - someone correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe they're sometimes referenced as "air jets". They're not removable, but I try to shoot some carb cleaner in there.

Discoloration of the jets shouldn't be an issue as long as you give them a thorough clean.

hiding

Hi there
The power jet is hiding under the large aluminium screw in the float chamber, choose a good fitting screwdriver tap it on top to shock it and make sure to keep the pressure on because they burr easily,
all the best,

Thanks for the answers. Found the aluminium screws the tro that weren't burred came off and the power jets were blanks. So i assume they are the same on both sets of carbs since they got quite large main jets 170-180 range.

Those two alu screws are stuck and the heads are busted Sad Any cure other than drilling them out??

Can the screws be purchased anymore? Can't find it in the parts manual, only the Power jet.
