Stuck fuel petcock

Mon Nov 28, 2016 8:08 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hey,

My fuel petcock is stuck in the ON position. I can't seem to budge it to turn it off. Is there a way to disassemble and clean these or should I buy a new one?

Thanks

Had the same thing happen to me this summer. Fuel valve would not budge and did not want to damage the plastic lever so took it apart. Did not look rebuild-able so just bought a new one. Not worth taking a chance and have fuel leaking out onto the floor of your garage.

Do a search on ebay.com for "Honda nsr250 fuel valve". You should find something there.

All the fuel petcocks on ebay.com look like cheap Chinese knockoffs to me. Embarassed

Theres gonna come a time when were all gonna be using chinese stuff when oem parts become unavailable, and i,m also old enough to remember when everybody was berating japanese bikes as rubbish. Give one a shot you might be surprised, and if like most nsr owners, your bikes not on the road every day, you,ll never wear one out. Also check out other models, as a lot of Honda stuff is interchangeable

Would the part number, 16950-KV3-953 be correct for my MC21? I ask because there are some for sale on ebay - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HONDA-NSR250R4-SE-SP-MC21-NSR250R5-SE-SP-MC28-FUEL-TAP-16950-KV3-953-FUEL-COCK-/201606993346?hash=item2ef0b695c2:g:8GIAAOSw3ydV1bA4 but I'm not sure about the part number Confused It doesn't seem to coincide with any of the part numbers I've found in the online parts catalogue.

There are three numbers in my parts book, 16950 kv3 830, 16950 kv3 680, and 16950 kv3 681, all for the 21, i would imagine that 16 and 18's have the same tap, and maybe other honda's of that period, ie, cbr, vfr, the only difference being the on off knob which are different lengths, and are removable from the tap body..
