Hi folks. Does anyone know of a different fuel tank to fit an mc16.My tank has the usual rot after 30 years. Can I just warn anyone buying an mc16 to check the tank very carefully before parting with the readies. Most have been standing for years and tanks suffer from rust inside which Finds its way out at the bottom left hand side, and decent tanks seem impossible to find

how bad is yours ? want to sell it ?

Hi,original tank looked reasonable until I poked the minor rusty bits and ended up with a hole about 2 by 1 inches plus numerous other small holes along the bottom edge. On top of that its got sealer in it so not a lot of good

same as how mine came from a dealer ......just looking at welding mine , mine also has sealer in it which is a worry because i dont think they treated rust before , have holes on both siddes and 2" underneath
hopefully burn off sealer and remove treat and reseal

Makes you wonder if it would be worth someone getting a batch of tanks made in India. Im sure there would be a demand for them seeing how many mc16's seem to be surfacing these days. All 30yrs old and low miles so probably all got dodgy tanks

Just seen your message,thanks. I'm just in the process of fitting an mc18 tank. Its slightly longer and the front mounting is totally wrong. Ive cut front mount off an mc16 tank and welded it on to the mc18 tank,movad rear mount on frame back about an inch and fit isnt too bad. Mounts for plastics dont quite line up but not a problem and I might end up with a usable nsr.
