MC28 carb vent pipe?

Wed Oct 19, 2016 5:42 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hello everyone,

Long time, no post Wink I've been spending some time on my old NSR getting it back on the road after having some carb issues. Long story short I had to make new seats for the fuel needles, the ones that control fuel into the bowls.

I was looking at the hoses on the bike and there is a T union between the carbs up top that has a large vent line. I'm assuming this vents to the bowls but its not an overflow? Reason I ask is today I run it down low between the engine and frame to a catch can. Is there a chance fuel could run out of it if it tipped over? I was thinking about just running it up top.

Where did this go to on a original bike? I have no air box, open carbs with UNI filters.

TIA

Welcome back, Andre!

The RHS air corrector hose should clip into the plastic coated metal clip, the same as the LHS does in your photo. The stock setup is symmetrical.

The breather hose on a stock bike should run through the red clip that the air corrector hose is currently held by, and down the side of the right carb. It won't hurt to re-route it, and unless you find yourself and the bike upside down in a ditch somewhere, you should be perfectly safe! Wink
