In answer to your question, yes, if your 1989 is an R model [non-adjustable forks], then the specified fork oil quantity is 435cc.

For future reference, just in case you didn't know, it will likely be beneficial if you state whether you have an R5K (R model) or R6K (SP model), or add it to your profile. There aren't a huge number of differences, but obviously they do matter. The differences range from minor cosmetics such as the front disc carrier colours, to the more important fluid levels, and different mechanical parts.
