HELP!!!Raw fuel in pipes

Tue Feb 15, 2005 5:13 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

If I let my 1992 MC 21 sit for any length of time it literally fills with raw fuel! I kick it over and the left side pipe GUSHES (not spits) fuel out until it lights and then spits fuel out until cleared. HELP??? Stuck float? Dirty needles?? Any help is welcome. Thanks.

i was warned by a friend when i first bought my nsr that if u dont close the fuel tap on 2 strokes they can siphen the fuel of the tank until its completely empty, but since the pipes on nsr's end fairly high i guess it only siphens until the level of fuel is as low as possible through the whole bike. so perhaps **** fuel tap is broken or leaking and this is whats happening?

sounds like a sticking needle valve. if the bikes been left for some time, with fuel in the carbs it can gum up.you will be best off stripping the carbs and give them a good clean with carb cleaner.also check that the floats do not have fuel inside them. its never good to let a bike stand for any length of time with fuel in the cards. i shut the fuel tap and run mine untill the carbs are empty. you should turn off the fuel tap when you park up anyway, as its not a vacuum tap.

I did not know it was not vaccuum flow. Will run it dry and shut off fuel to see if it helps. I am going to have the carbs done at some point when Iget new pipes and a full tune up. Thanks for the input

Even vaccumn diaphragm taps weep in time if you leave them on.

After you have 'drained' the pipes of juice, start it up and see how she runs... if you are still getting neat juice out of the pipes then you deffo have a float / fuel needle issue.

may the force be with you......... Razz

Finally got her started, and puked fuel all over the driveway. Went for a spin around the block a few times, turned off the fuel and rode home. Let it run for few minutes with fuel off, but she kept running. I'm guessing buggered fuelcock? We,ll see next time I start it. Again thanks for info all.
