Titling in the United States

Wed Feb 16, 2005 3:02 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Need some help from those experienced in the USA with titling two strokes.

I just purchased a NSR250R, 1994, which came to the US by way of a Diplomate.

My problem is it came with no paperwork and want to run it on the street.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Greg

Do you know anyone in Maine ? They do not require titles for 250cc bikes.

we can get them registered im pretty sure
but i doubt we can title them, i havnt tried either yet...

but if your state can transfer registration from my state that might do the trick...

i have 2 of my own to register all ready, so i dont know how many i can register before flags start going up..

not sure if i want to try and title mine either cause that might send up a flag at the DMV and then someone might come and say now you cant ride it on the street anymore..

This is how I did it.

Sold it to a friend in Maine, rode it for the remainder of the year on his reg.
Then he sold it back, I had to take his reg (which was signed over to me)and bill of sale to New Hampshire D.O.T. & a copy of Maine Registry 250cc and under Law and they issued a new VIN and title for $35. Don't be afraid of flags, I have never heard of it happening to anyone. Just get your papers in order and your story straight.

I have a new NSR that I need to do similar or something else to get titled. But I must say the D.O.T. was very easy, so I don't expect any problem.
