My first true street bike (without breaking the law that is), was a 1980 Suzuki GS750. It was my second bike that I took my license test on. That was an 89 Suzuki GSXR1100 that dyno'd at 135 RWHP (it was by no means stock).

On idle it wanted to wheelie all over the place Wink At 170 MPH, your contacts pop out of your eyes (and I am not joking!). I had to move to a slower bike after that one. Got me a 96 GSXR750 Smile Then came the NSR's. Damn GSXR's scared me Twisted Evil

At the tender age of 16, I jumped on my first (and only!) 4-stroke, a Honda SS50! :D

Bikes after that included DT50, YB100, MBX125F, TZR125, and RGV250. So, not always a Honda, but I never made the mistake of a bore-stroke again!

First bike I owned was a '77 FS1E DX - TTT542R, paid £25 for it... delivered to my door in 4 card board boxes...

Bought 2 more of them from a mate who got scrubbed out on his first drive home from work after passing his car test from giving up bikes.

First bike I ever rode was a '76 A50 - the non pedal equipped version of the AP50.

Blimey, 1985 seems so far back in time.

Hi all,

My first go on a bike was a mate's at school who had a YB100 - I managed to wrap it round a telegraph pole for him! Ooops! We're still mates, but he doesn't let me ride his bikes!!!

The first bike of my own was a highly stylish Honda CB125RS, bought in 1991 for 200 quid. This got crashed about every other week because I thought I was Mick Doohan(?) and blown up three or four times trying to keep up with my mates on bikes like RD125LC, TZR125, NS125F etc. It eventually dawned on me that I should buy a) some decent protective gear, and b) a faster bike with better brakes / tyres / suspension etc.

After passing my test I got an NS400, I nearly bought an NSR250MC21, but it was a grand more. The NS got swapped with a mate at uni who had an RGV250. This got sold and was used as a getaway vehicle in an armed robbery of a jewellers!!!

Since then I have owned various bikes - 4 NS400s, 2 RGVs, a YPVS, an NSR250MC16 and some four strokes, including two VFR750s.

I currently own:

NS400/RGV conversion project bike, hopefully coming to the track day.
NS400 Repsol colours - in bits due to broken primary bearing.
NS400 Rothmans with Shepherd 500 kit on - bought in boxes, barrels to be used on project bike. The rest to be rebuilt.
NSR250 MC16, Repsol colours, MC18 carbs and barrels.
VFR750 1995 - good all rounder
GT750 1984 - commuter bike with sad caravan style fairing - absolutely hideous! But cheap to run and weatherproof - used to commute daily up the M3 to London. I shouldn't really admit to owning that one! Laughing

Mat.

first bikes

Thu Feb 10, 2005 2:04 pm » Post: #15 » Download Post

First bike i bought when i was 11 and saved up enough money to buy one.
79 Honda XL100S had a seized motor and stuck carb slide. i got the motor unstuck with some marvel mystery oil.
(didnt figure out the stuck carb till i got it running by towing it behind a 4 wheeler) had to pull the plug off at wide open throttle to kill the engine after i crashed from overtaking the the 4 wheeler and suckign the rope into my front wheel... oh did i mention the brakes were shot..

once i got that all fixed a few weeks later on my second ride, i crashed when as broken tree pointing into the trail impailed my right foot, pulled me off the bike, the rear wheel landed on my left foot. there i was in a full split with a tree through my right foot trying to push the bike off my front foot so i can get up..

well ive been hooked ever since
there were several more "rat bikes", but my first good dirtbike was an 87 CR250 R. i was probably around 14 by then... i have had too many bikes to mention them all so i wont

But my first street bike i bought when i was 15. 86 kawasaki ninja 600R
i didnt have a car in high school, and was bummin rides for the few months that it was too cold and icy to ride. But other then that i had the best bike in school. I actually took my liscense test on my freinds 83 honda 650 nighthawk. I didnt want to piss off the instructor as my ninja had a Vance and Hines race pipe on it and was gawd awful loud.

ive had or riddent just about every type of street bike since then, but no Harleys just cant justify the cost for the performance (or lack thereoff).

i currently own 2 mc21' NSR250's one is an SE and one is an SP, they both need a little love, and with help from all of you at this site, one off them is getting to be close to ready for the spring.

i also have a very nice 02 yamaha yzf 426 for the trail, and a little chinese pocketbike for playing aound sometimes.

would love to get a 98 or so ZX900 for long distance street rides.

MAN I WISH IT WAS SPRING TIME!!!!
