stripped the engine out of my mc16 over the weekend, i knew one barrel was a bit worse for wear and neede replating but the other barrel is even worse Crying or Very sad the cost of replating both barrels and 2 new pistons and rings etc is a little beyond the budget at the moment so i was wondering if there are any other options....... i.e. could i get the plating removed and rebore the barrel and use it that way? or does anyone have any good s/h barrels for an mc16?
i know there is an engine on ebay, but that could be worse than mine Crying or Very sad
thx

The barrels have to be replated. Long gone are the days of cast iron liners and reboring in high-performance 2-strokes.

Yes, £100 a barrel to replate doesn't sound cheap, but bear in mind that MC16 barrels will be at least 18 years old now, that wear only works out at about £11 a year! Use high quality synthetic 2-stroke oil, and there's no reason why the barrels won't go another 20 years! (Unless your name's Luke! Smile )

Like you say, you could invest in another motor, but who's to say it will be any better than what you already have? Once replated, the barrels are effectively as good as new.

Go to Langcourt direct for cylinder replating. It's the service 95% of the trade use anyway, so cut out the middle-man!
