battery problem

Wed Dec 29, 2004 6:31 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I'm having a problem with my battery.
I was forced to change early my two previous batteries. I noticed that the cap was popped up and in the last one was even melted !!!!
Actually these were low quality batteries. I have a Yuasa now.
Thanks

sounds like the battery is being overcharged to the point of boiling...?

you might want to put a voltmeter on to test the charge going back into the battery and see what it is.
Also check to see if it changes much as you rev the bike.

The regulator / rectifyer on these (and most other Honda's) isn't great. When it fails it allows the battery to overcharge (basically it stops regulating) and this is what causes the over heating.

Fix it NOW, or you stand a good chance of frying your PGM and they'll set you back about £500! Shocked
