The M-Max, or any other derestrictor allows for keeping a stock wire harness stock. If your not worried about questions concering why the looms is all cut up at time of sale, then no, its no better then a wire splice.

With the wire splice you can go better then the M-Max by doing the GPS splice as well. If I recall, the M-Max doesn't include this (but I could be wrong).

If you want the good setup, go with the HRC box, and wiring loom.

If you look at picture in the link to e-bay M-max race limiter, there are gray colored plugs that look like the GPS plug, I think that is the GPS de-restriction. But you could save yoursef some money by just doing the splice, it very easy, cost time , no money. Go to the tuning section and it tells you how.

The Mmax box just does the O/Bu wire splice. It does not do anything to the GPS. Pull one apart and you'll find that the gps wires go into the box and out again without doing anything. Good old Mmax eh?

Mmax lots of $$$$
Wire splice $0
End result - same

From allthe boxes I've seen and tested, they all just do the wire splice.
