Source for OE bodywork and/or stickers?

Tue Jun 30, 2009 12:55 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Sorry if this has been covered. I tried a search but bodywork and stickers bring up many multiple pages and I even looked through them as much as possible.

Is there still a source for OE bodywork and/or stickers for a '92 SP? I'm in the states if that makes a difference. Also, once sourced, does the bodywork come with all stickers installed, or must they be bought seperately? Although mine is in nice shape I think someone redid the upper fairings at some point and put the NSR and SP stickers in the '94 location. I'm also missing the Rothmans "crest" logos on the sides and front for some reason. Here's how it looks now.

Thanks for any help.

Craig

If you buy the OE Honda bodywork, it comes with stickers pre applied. You can buy the stickers separatley, although not sure if the MC21 Rothmans are still avaliable.

Check out the Parts Manual on this site and see if you can order them from your local Honda dealer. I can still get MC28 Rothmans from my dealer in the UK, but there are diferences between the MC21 & MC28.

Good luck

rothmans stickers on the side of the seat section were only fitted to the mc28.
check out the garage and look for RichG as he has a original 21sp and this will give you a clue to where the stickers should be!!

I already did, hence my question. The Rothmans stickers on the side I am talking about are on the fairing, not the seat.

Rothmans stuff

Tue Jun 30, 2009 11:36 pm » Post: #5 » Download Post

Craig,

As mentioned previously, the OEM bodywork comes with decals applied. The bad news is that very little of it is still available new from Honda. Try contacting Moriwaki-man on this forum. He had a list of still available bodywork a few months back. The sides and V piece are the same as the '94 MC28, and I think you can still get that bodywork new.

The decals are mostly available - the ones that I have been unable to order are the yellow panels on the seat unit, the decal above the tail lights, and the two NSR decals above the front indicators (the ones that you need.....) The Rothmans shield decals for the sides and front cowl are still available.

Occasionally new panels come up on yahoo Japan, but they are very popular and attract a premium price. There's even a complete new set that gets advertised every now and again, but the guy is asking about JY289000 for it (tank included).

If you don't have one you should look for a 21 parts manual. You can use the one on this site for reference but some of the numbers don't match up correctly so be careful using it to order.

After you get a list of part numbers for the bodywork and or decals you can send them to Redline here in California or any number of part shops in Europe.

The bad news as has been posted is the 21 decals and bodywork are getting hard to find. The 28 is getting the same way. I tried to order all the decals for my Rothmans and two of the main decals are no longer available.

I thought that the 28 lowers are different than the 21 so do more research on that before ordering 28 pieces.

Just to give you an idea I bought a new tank for my Rothmans and it was $800us including shipping. The complete bodywork was $2200us including shipping. Shocked

Sounds a lot, but when you think that would raise the value of the bike to probably $6000 - $10,000 if the rest of it were in fantastic condition, it's not so bad.

If you invested $5000, and had a 50% increae in 5 years you'd be extremely happy, so why not use your bike as the investment tool? Wink

I agree with you it's worth it.

I'm a hobbiest painter and I can turn out some nice work but nothing beats brand new OEM panels. All the colors are the correct shade and the decals are layed down with perfection. The inside of the panels with the silver heat shielding in perfect condition, it doesn't get any better than that.

That isn't actually so bad - I priced a complete MC28 kit from the factory at 248K so when you consider that the complete MC21 is not available - this is cheap !

Craig, you'll be able to see how your body work compares to this OEM one, more pic's here for you:

Couple of cheaper alternatives:

http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m63359744

There's a few full used body sets in various colours - one set just sold for 40K Shocked

If your own bike has some good panels then selling them on is going to make a swap over very worth while!

That first set by seller "momosisisan" is Chinese crap. Be careful of that stuff.

Well if you guys are looking for a brand new fairings for MC21 or MC28
i can help you guys get a genuine NSR fairing set.. But price am not sure yet Am thinking alot! lol

China made ones are also available sticker pre-installed or go with custom paint if wanted. Price for that would be ranging from HK$4,000 and up (Including the tank)

Only catch is products would be from Hong Kong so shipping could be an issue.

All parts available here and I don't mind helping out fellow NSR riders but pay first before i ship it.. had some bad experiences already..

BTW Fairing cost does not go with windshield.. (Sold separately)
