NSR frame for supermono project?

Fri Jul 03, 2009 7:10 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi guys, Im an NSR-World newbie and this is my first post. I have to come clean and say i own 3 rgv250s but i have recently found an interest in the little honda, always loved them but the rgv is my first true love. I feel like im sleeping with the enemy, dont tell the rgv forum boys.

Anyway, i have 96 nsr rolling chassis less motor and im toying with the idea of putting a single in it. I know its blasphemy but i cant road register this thing and i already have a garage full of 250 2 strokes. Was looking at doing something different. Any ideas or pointers out there?? anyone put a big single in an nsr, i cant find jack all on the net??

cheers, steve

I think the only single worthy of the nsr would be a cr500 Cool
I've got a spare kx500 and a mc16 I thought about doing something with but instead I think I'm just gonna do a supersingle outa the kx500 chassis with old school RR tank & fairings.

the other issue is the proarm. cant just flip the wheel over for rh chain if using a big ktm.

You can't do that with an NSR Pro-Arm, but you could consider an NX5 swingarm if you want the chain on the other side.

Having had a couple of supermonos myself, l can see why you would want one along side your strokers in the garage.

I would be looking to fit a modern 450 single, probably a mildly tuned CRF450, and the X version as it has slightly higher gearing as standard, which would make a more pleasant mono. Still mental mind.

The honda RS250 chassis is very popular, so the NSR shouldnt be too different for this project and straight forward.

There was a NSR fitted with a CRF450 on Trademe last week. I can't find it now, might be in the parts section.

Found it, was a RS125.

yeah, i seen that. wondered how it would go, it would be pretty light but $8k is a bit steep for a bike that would finish mid pack in f3. it may be better but unless you got 85+hp you aint gonna win f3. would rather spend 4k and finish mid pack than 8 but hey it might be the cats pajamas.
