Alright i have mc18 r5k and it has massive power loss the bike falls flat on its ass at 120km just starts to bog crazy i cant get it over 120km
My bike ran really good before could hit 190 plus kms no problem
The motor has could compression its has been deristricted
Im thinking it could be the spark plugs pulled one today and the number is BP7HS not sure if correct???

Plugs should be NGK BR9ECM.

Does the bike pull through the redline in lower gears, say 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, or does it "fall flat" at around 8000rpm which in 6th is about 120kmh?

Failing to pull through the 7-8000rpm barrier would indicate an RC Valve failure - either something in the PGM or something mechanical has broken. (Maybe a cable, or a/both Valve(s) "gummed" up.)

I'm assuming that the R5K wasn't resricted Andy, as 120 would be about right for that to kick in wouldn't it?

120k's is about 80mph Dave... got me thinking there for a bit! :)

The owner says he thinks the bike's already derestricted as it used to pull 190kmh, closer to 120mph.

I think that 7-8000rpm in 6th would give about 120kph, and if the Valves were faulty and not opening, then it would fail to pull past that, and feel like it was "falling flat on it's face".

1st and 2nd gear are fine when it hits power ban its good but as soon as i hit power ban in 3rd its alright not the best 4th power ban doesnt feel good and it will barely rev to 10,000rpm 5th is even worse and 6th the rpms start to drop pretty fast!!!

What i dont understand why is 1st and 2nd good and the other gears arent?

Hmmm. PGM faulty?

Pickup wire faulty?

TPS faulty?

Does it matter if you whack the throttle open or feed it in?

Can you get flat out in fifth, then change up to sixth and does it then slow down?

Hi,

Out of interest, how do you pin the powervalves open?

Mat.

Simplest method is to remove the actuator cables from each pulley and then use a "split-pin" (knock pin to our American friends) to align each pulley to its' backplate.

This holds the Valves about 3/4 open - just enough to give pretty good power, but closed just enough to make it sort-of rideable! A good (temporary) fix if your PGM or servo motor is dead!
