rs250 bodywork fitment

Sun Apr 26, 2009 12:51 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I have a '92 rs250 bodywork that I would like to put on the nsr. Anybody done it? What sort of brackets did you have to make for it to work? Post pics please if you have them.

I try to dry fit them but it looks like the radiator is getting in the way.

early (i.e. pre '97) RS bodywork is far too narrow for anything except an mc18.

What about the tailpiece/seat units? Are they too narrow as well? I'd like to put one on my bike - the silhouette item is a bit pricey, and most fiberglass fairing manufacturers seem to have moulds for various RS fairings.

Here is a picture of the 96-98 rs125 tail. I think it fits great.

Shocked

Why would you do that to any bike, let alone an NSR? The poor thing. Crying or Very sad

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all, but for me that seat unit looks terrible on the bike.

If your going away from the standard, which actually I think still looks great, for a modern line look, then you need to go with something like the TYGA GP tail or the RS250 tail which Silikesguiness has fitted to great effect.

Doesn't really suit the rest of the bike really does it. But if thats what floats your boat...

Stock fairings always look and fit the best anyway.

i have to admit the seat looks a bit odd, sorry.as rich says i went rsw on mine as i love the look of them,i had no idea if it would even fit never mind look nice Laughing luckily it fit without any hassle which i of course put down to my excellent judgement Wink with tyga doing the rsw kits now you wouldnt have the trouble of making it fit as i did because mines speedfiber bodywork made to fit the rsw not an nsr Very Happy

Admin edit: I know you're proud of it Si, but please don't post massive pictures at every available opportunity! That page was best part of 1Mb to download, and believe it or not, there are people still out there on dial-up!

I see you're local so if you want me to glass the front panels so they match up with your tank I'll help you out.

A '93 RS250 seat units will fit, with a bit of cutting and few ali brackets. I've fitted 93 fairing and seat to an old MC18.......can't for the life of me find a picture of it......but it does work.

I've fitted 2001 stuff to an MC28 as well, Fontyyy had it installed on his bike to, but both of us used a Tyga rear subframe (I think he had my one) as the '01 seat unit is a little narrow to fit on the std Honda sub frame.

You have to remember that the '93-2004 seat unit is quite long on account of the RS250 frame being about an inch shorter that an NSR one. You'll therefore need to cut about an inch allround out of the front of the unit to make it sit right on an NSR. If not, the unit hangs too far out over the rear wheel and looks pony.

Good luck if you do decide to go the RS250 route.

I like the look of the rsw rs250 seat unit like Sililikeguiness' but too expensive. I'm looking for a track set, not street. Tyga's bodywork is nice but out of my price range and I already have their street bodywork.

I got that rs125 seat for $20. It's good enough for the track. I just want to put something on it and ride it. I'm tired of looking at it. Very Happy

appreciate your budget does restrict options. Well done for getting a race seat unit and making it fit!

I recall a few weeks ago a US guy was offering an airtech MC21 seat unit (original shape) for a pretty low price (100 bucks or something). Worth checking back in the Classifieds Section?
