Identifying standard expansion chambers

Sun Feb 15, 2009 2:07 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi all,

A mate of my Dads has a pair of standard NSR expansion chambers in his shed that are in excellent condition. Should there be any markings on them that would identify which model they are from?

He has a lot of 70's and 80's two stroke race bikes, and he got them off a fiend a few years ago who was going to throw them away, thinking that someone somewhere might have a use for them.

They weigh a ton, have huge external seams running along their length, and weigh a ton.

Cheers fella's. We definitely know they are standard, but not sure which model they are from.

I'll get some pics put up.

For everyone with standard chambers, if you hold an OE chamber in one hand and an aftermarket stainless chamber in the other, the weight difference is incredible. I've recently did this for the first time Shocked

'16 and both '18's have curl in the bottom pipe to put both end cans level.

'16, tiny pipes
'18, cans level, not offset in normal v-twin 250 style
'18, mk2 high level version of above
'21, nothing outstanding
'28, big washers in the headers in a futile attempt to restrain the power of the mighty beast that is a stock carded PGMIV.
