Wed Oct 27, 2004 5:16 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

one cylinder is 20lbs less than the other , and the weak one is leaking a bit of oil out of the exhaust manifold. question is can resolve this problem by just replacing the rings one the weak piston, the bike runs fine , i want the easiest solution possible

Don't we all!

Pour a little oil into the bad cylinder and do the test again. If the compression goes up then you should be okay with just a new set of rings.

Don't forget you'll need a bottom gasket too - leave the head attached to the barrel as it'll save you a head gasket.

Be prepared to do more though if you find the barrel or piston are scored. it would be a real false economy to rebuild with damaged components...

I don't know. Only way to tell is to take the part numbers to your local dealer and try. If that fails, try Apexmoto or Tyga.
