I personally think StephenRC45 has the best setup:

4 x 20mm holes in the front slope of the lid, with duct tape stuck to the top of the lid for covering 2 of them when it's a little extra nippy!

Jet to suit average temps (i.e. high teens/very low 20's for summer) and when needed, pop the tank off and cover 2 holes to richen it up a tad!

Just my opinion though.

thought i'd better take the carbs apart for a clean and found the main jets are 145(as opposed to 128 standard). and the air box has 4 holes already drilled in it, opened it up to find that the previous owner was using it with out a filter? guessing it's not a good idea not to run it without????? if i put a filter back in will it still be too rich with 145 mains?? Question

Don't even go there! Laughing

You will never get jet sizes out of me... ever!!

Plug chops and progressive jetting are your answer, or an hour on a decent 2-stroke friendly dyno.

You can get Ramair and HRC filter foam that you can then cut to size/shape.

You'd need a lot more than a Mars bar to tempt me! Something in a green bikini and knee-high platform boots would be a good start! Laughing

does removing the partition from the centre of the air box lid give the same results as drilling holes in the lid or would you still require the holes even if the partitions been removed?
answers on a postcard...... or just add a reply ! lol.

You still need the holes. The standard lid simply doesn't flow enough for full power.

ok.got the holes and got some 130 main jets on order. should be sweet as then. the 145 mains seem to be emptying my fuel tank pretty quick.
