The trouble with collectors...

Sun Mar 23, 2008 8:11 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Considering breaking Frank M's Fortuna MC21.

The bike nipped up and messed up the barrel, as it has been plated and repaired 3 times already i dont really want to use it. Have tried to get a barrell for it but have had no joy.

Therefore if you are interested in anything off it drop me a line on the site or brendan@findyouroldmotor.com and make an offer and i will see what it all adds up to...

...will prob make more breaking so not interested in selling whole bike...

This has to be an early April Fools surely? Break a bike like that for want of a barrel? Ridiculous.

This is the problem with nice bikes going to people with too much money who don't appreciate them for what they are. One less perfectly good (almost magazine competition winning) NSR in the world once it's broken. What a waste. It's not even as if it's a rat-bike. The Forum Racer is hardly a show winning bike, but it was kept complete, revived, and prepared for racing for only a few hundred quid.

To make matters worse, offers to buy the bike complete are even being refused.

Criminal.

i don't know what was paid for the bike and dont care but surely it make more sense to get a new barrel for a few hundred quid than brake a top class bike like that Confused

Er, I don't think so!

We each have NSR's already - I already have three, two of which are restoration projects!

You're advocating the breaking of it by wanting parts than can easily be sourced off mainstream bikes, and sourced locally to boot.

This has to be an early April Fools surely? Not really but was hoping for a bit of a response and maybe the offer of a barrell Break a bike like that for want of a barrel? Ridiculous. If you read my mail it says that i dont want to break the bike, but and this is the point i cant get a barell for it. I put a wanted on the site and got one response - from australia. I cant believe that no one knows of a barrell for sale and yet not one was availabe, I have looked on e bay since last year and still none available.
This is the problem with nice bikes going to people with too much money who don't appreciate them for what they are. Not sure if you are saying i ve got too much money if so i think you might have that a bit wrong, i am just a normal working bloke. I do appreciate what i have got - thats why i bought it, a lot of people on the site said they would buy it - when it was last on e bay - but did n't. I want to use the bike not leave it in the garage and polish it - where can i get a barell for it, One less perfectly good (almost magazine competition winning) NSR in the world once it's broken. What a waste. It's not even as if it's a rat-bike. The Forum Racer is hardly a show winning bike, but it was kept complete, revived, and prepared for racing for only a few hundred quid. Again where can i get a barrell to revive it.
To make matters worse, offers to buy the bike complete are even being refused. Offers refused because as i said i do not want to sell!!!!
Criminal.

Bit of a strong e mail Andy

Click the hmmmm, its a link to a new one, Tyga have got 8 in stock, Honda still supply them! Or try here, you'll get one delivered for £100.

They aren't hard to find but people here on the forum with NSR's are not going to sell them.

I can give you one that's not been replated ever but needs doing if you want to go down that route. In fact I can give you two, no thr....

You see why I won't sell my spare ones? With two NSR's I need four in stock for piece of mind just in case.

I did click the Hmmm link it takes you to tyga page for MC28 mine is a mc21, checked tygas site before and it seems that they only do 300cc kits, i dont want it to be 300cc and as stated before i have not got loads of money and cant afford to buy one - if i had the money and wanted a 300 i would as they look quality.

Your other link is for Japanese Yahoo, i ve no idea how that would even work.

Your probably right people on the forum have got them but wont sell them, which is fair enough, but then i get coated for trying to get my money back because i cant get a barrell. However you are wrong they are are to find, i have been looking for about 7 months.

Before i posted that i may break it and placed my wanted ad i got 1 response, yet now your all telling me i can get them easily.

TYGA have used cylinders on their site for around £180, new ones from £277.

Good used barrels are on Yahoo all the time, and a set will usually come in at less than £200 a pair... often with pistons and heads. (Yes, you run the risk of getting less than you bargain for, but I find the Japanese are generally far more honest than Westerners on eBay!)

I have a brand new "H" (R type) barrel if you want it. £280 plus post.

Strong post? If you think so.

28 and 21 barrels are all but identical.

This one and this one aer both 250, the first is SP, the second is R, you'll need the top end rebuild kit to do the job properly.

Here and here are the 2nd hand ones.

Re. Yahoo Japan, join Ok!Shon, follow their instructions, they bid and post it to you, work on one Yen costing one pence by the time it gets here and you wont be far off.

Andy? Brand new barrel? It's an outrage I tell you!

Well i must be missing it some where i'll have another look, Gavin from Jap 4 is also looking for one for me as well.

As mentioned in my other post, I have no idea how to buy something off of Jap yahoo, any offers of help?????

Was looking at buying a new barrell but it is a bit cost prohibative for me as i would want to put two new barrells on as would not be happy running just 1 new one

Not sure what i did wrong in my wanted post but got no response and yet you all seem to know where to get them.

Also what makes me a collector as opposed to an entusiast, is it becasue i have more than 1 bike.

And yes i do think it was a strong post but maybe it was just how i was bought up
