Newbie question

Sun May 13, 2007 2:53 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi. I just joined the forum and think the site looks great! The forum seems really helpful, so I hope someone can help me.

I have read the tuning section, and the basic stuff is already done. I have a set of Jha pipes and a Jha airbox lid, and the wire-splice. The previous owner gave me a dyno print out showing just over 58HP. I have a receipt for pistons/rings about a year ago (about 3000kms), so the top-end should hopefully be fresh.

What would you guys reckon to be the next best step to take? I'd like to get around 65HP if it's possible? Is another 6~7HP possible?

TIA,

Mark.

60hp+ should be quite easy to get using the parts you have. The only parts you might find handy to have are the HRC jet kit.

The HRC jet kit comes with 3 different spec needles as well as a new X and Y air corrector and a number of main jets.

Fitting the HRC jet kit will allow you to set the jetting up much better than using the stock needles and so should give you an increase in hp and engine response.

What JHA pipes are you running?

Thank you stephenrc45.

Do you know where I can get the HRC jet kit from? I e-mailed JHA but never got a reply.

My pipes are Force 304 I think. The later stainless ones.

Hi "Lizard", and welcome to the Forum!

Where in Asia are you? There are several options for the HRC jet kit, and loads of tuning options! Close to 65hp is easily available without getting in too deep on an MC21.

I reckon there is certainly something more in carb setup if you are currently running below 60hp.

Most people get the HRC jet kits though Tyga-performance.com.

With alittle bit of setting up I'm sure you will see over 60hp, closer to the 62hp mark.

Thanks again Stephen. I've been offered an HRC jet kit by someone by private message. Is £75 a fair price for a used kit?

If the kit includes all the jets, as well as 6 needles plus the HRC X and Y air correctors its a fair price.

Make sure you also get the needle retainers as these are also part of the HRC kit and are needed when using the HRC needles.
