servo unplugged, valves fully open, slip clutch a little to get going, and she goes very well indeed, its just annoying because servo works at first then stops i'm thinking rc control unit as my spare servos act the same!

It could simple be a duff servo controller. The controller on the MC16 is a seperate box, and you should be able to pick one up cheap somewhere.

There was an MC16 RC valve controler on ebay last week going for £10 I think. Might still be there.
