I have a chance to purchace a VERY clean MC21 R model 5,000 miles, the only think id R model only comes with wet clutch?, what to pros & cons, also I could get it for about $5,000 and adivise would be helpful
The R model has has a wet clutch, low quaility forks and shock. You would be better off to to spend another grand and get a good SE/SP. _________________ james

It comes down to the price, how much would a 21 se/sp with 5.000 miles cost if you could find one that is as clean as the R you have seen.
As a bike(I might get my arse kicked here)the R is as good as the SE/SP.Apart from the clutch noise if you rode an R back to back with an SP you wouldn't notice any difference in fact I think the wet clutch feels better than the dry one but you only use it to pull away and change down anyway.
The SP wheels do look better then the R/SE but not in that naff gold colour.
The R shock and Forks are as good as the SE/SP if you get them refreshed and set to your body weight but you dont have as much adjustment on the R forks and Shock.Stephen RC45 did tell me the SE/SP forks dont work in the way they should,it was something about a vavle inside that lets all the oil pass when it shouldn't but he would have to tell you about that as I got a bit lost. The R shock cant be that bad as I think Andy is going the use an R shock on the NSR-WORLD racer.
At the end of the day if your happy with the price of the R and the condition then buy it. _________________ Harley Davidson is the worlds most efficient way to turn petrol into noise without the harmful side effect of horsepower.
A mint NSR with those low miles on wants snapping up. Everything that's fitted to the SP will bolt straight onto the R if you decided you'd like it, but then so do Ohlins and a host of other upgrades!
If $5000 is for a titled bike, then I'd say it was worth it. However, check it hasn't been raced - low milage bikes with immaculate body work may not be what they seem! _________________ MC21SP Plaything
