I am currently rebiulding an MC21 SE, the old gearbox oil has been drained but i would like to flush it out before adding my new oil, I have been told i could use diesel to do this but am not to convinced?? is there a safe solution to use? or sould i just use oil then do another oil change after afew k's?
I did 2 changes within 200 miles when i got mine, and that cleared it!!! Nice long run to get it all warm, drain straight away and then refill!! 2 of those and i rekon youll be done,
Not sure where you can buy this, but we used to use it all the time. It was a product made by Castrol (I suspect all manufacturers have it) and we basically tested an oil, then ran the "flusher" through, and then went onto the next oil. This was with dyno testing.
The flushing oil was slippery, but couldn't be used under too much load 'cos the shear strength was pretty low (I'm told), and it contained a detergent of some sort.
I've actually seen it in the local shop here in Thailand, so it's for sale somewhere.
