Anyone got a crank from an NSR500 going cheap?

Possibly a bit off topic (possibly not?)

My uncle's 60th birthday is coming up pretty soon and I'm struggling for ideas for his present.

He's sponsored my racing through out my entire life (even although I've won sweet F all!) and generally one of the most genuine & generous people you'll ever meet so I want to get him something decent and I'm looking for ideas. (HELP!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!)

His life revolves around all things Honda. He has a CBR600RR, NS400R & NSR250 MC21 (every HRC goodie available + full tyga treatment + RS250 front end - you get the picture!) His house (Council house, Post man's salary!!!)has the finest collection of Books, posters magazines so all that kinda memorabilia's ruled out straight away cause I couldn't buy anything like that he wont already have or be impressed by. His wardrobe consists of mostly Honda or HRC branded stuff (even down to his watch) so as you can gather he's pretty much obsessed with all things Honda and HRC.

If I could get him a crank from an NSR500 V4 mounted in a presentation case I think he'd wet himself but being realistic you dont come across stuff like this every day and even if you did I wouldnt have the cash to buy them but that's the kind of thing he'd like.

I'm looking to spend £150 ish maybe £200 for something special. So what you got tucked away Or even just some ideas would be appreciated!

Maybe have a word with Tony Scott, Harris etc etc.
They may have a blown piston or similar from their race involvement?

A bit out of budget, but how about a trip to the Honda museum in Japan. Who is his racing Hero? Maybe you can get a momento from Doohan, Gardner, or Lawson.

Sorry, that was silly.

How about the NSR500 book, written by HRC. It's all in Jap, which is a damn shame, but it's got some very useful diagrams and nice piccies.

No idea where you'd get one other than the pubvlisher, but there's a number of some sort on it so I'll give you that:

ISBN4-87687-156-6 C-2053

Dunno if that's of help, but I bet he ain't got one of these.

I had to sit and grizzle in front of my boss for days until he gave up his copy. same deal with NSR style book.

Thanks guy's, I'm liking all your suggestions (although the museum visit would be the experience of a life time, it's more than just a little bit out of reach for me financially - unfortunately!)

I'll try tony scott, harris & padgetts to see what they've got lying around. I'll also be chasing up that ISBN number.

Thanks again. (Although, keep the suggestions coming!)

Does he have the book: Honda GP Racers, ISBN 1861260733

It deals with Honda racing, the machines and riders from 60ties till end of 90ties.

Its a very good book at about 20£

Honda or Honda Wings or HRC belt buckle in silver ?

I guess it could be made for 200USD

Tie or cuff holder with logos ?

Is he texan ? A pair of spurs with one of the above logos in silver on them.

Sponsor Patches for sowing on his leathers, copied from one of his Honda driver idols ?

Bike models. A shop here in Denmark offered to find someone to build one for me. There are many guys who enjoy building more than owning and would do it for free.

Or a set of diecast models, either racers or all his own Hondas

ISR mastercylinder and clutch lever set, with name and date engraved

(I think I'll let that idea go on to my sons Very Happy )

Firstly, I doubt it as the guy is from the UK. But secondly, I love the stereotype thing going on there! Laughing

Not: "Is he a horse rider?" but is he a deluded Yank SUV driver?"

Love it! Razz

Not: "Is he a horse rider

Stereotypes CAN be right you know, but is was meant a little tongue-in-cheek.

but is he a deluded Yank SUV driver?"

You are putting words in my mouth here, don't try to get me into yank bashing. Wink

I'm from Denmark, but an Honorary Citizen of Huntsville Alabama, so ...

A couple of my best mates are American, and they appreciate the Brit sense of humour as much as we do.

And Texans definietly need the P taking!
