I was wondering if someone had made a quick release adapter, for the tank, as the ones used on racing bikes, for removal without tools.
I known you could modify the tank etc. but it would be nice with an adapter of sorts, that would screw into the exixting threads.

Does EVERYBODY on this board install their tank with the 2 standard bolts ?

Aren't there anyone that has some other way of installing the tank, making it easier to service or jet your NSR ?

With a quick release, a hinge, anything ?

I have thought about it in the past.

My plan was to use the same kind of concept that is used on my RS for the front of the tank.

Basically I was thinking of taking a bolt, cutting the head off it, and drilling a hole into the shaft so I could slip a retaining pin to hold the front in place (just like they do on the RS). For the backthe dame type of thing could be done, just would need to be a little more beefy of a pin to really hold it in place. Of course if you are using a stock seat they you would run into the issue of how the seat would attach to the frame.

But since I run a race tail that doesnt use the stock seat pad, this would work for my application.

I have thougt in the same lines, so you can keep using a standard tank.

Or a bracket that would fixate the tank, just by raising the back, push into bracket at front and secure at the back.

I've seen a racingbike where the front was held by a rubberstrap, fixed to the frame and just pulled up to a bracket on the tank.

with this setup of course, you need to attach a bracket to the tank

Something that could be done for the back section would be to weld a bracket to the frame where the back tab normally mounts to. With this bracket, you could slip the tab of the tank under it, and let it hold the back of the tank in place, and then use a mount in the front as you or I described (Either would work, mine would be less invasive ).

MIght be an Idea, But then i have to take the tail off (tyga rear tail) and seat to acces the back bolt, so it wouldnt save me that much time!, youd also need to install a quick release fuel line. Are you racing it, Do you need to get under the tank that quickly? Maybe a Ducati style release could be fitted! but would require welding

I have fuelline quickrelease already.

Do you know of any pictures of the Ducati system ?

If I was doing it, I'd screw in a collar to leave a smooth hole with a ring groove machined into it near the bottom in both front and rear, then use pip pins to hold the tank down.
