Finally registered as I have got my mc21 going again... just in time for winter... Anyway, I'm in Chch, NZ. Some of you may have the mc16-18 (roughly) translated manual that I swapped for a bottle of gin and spent *hours* in the engineering library scanning. I don't know who to credit for the translation. Personally I credit the bottle of bombay sapphire.
So I've finally rebuilt my bike after a slight seize (pinch) on the top cyl, and it started up and has heat cycled ok... except that it bogs and wont rev over 6-7000rpm. The only difference I have made between this and the last setup is that I accidentally stuffed the stock filter element (don't use spray degreaser on them chaps! they fall to bits) so have started it up without an element in the filter box. My question is - will this cause the carbs to be so far out as to cause these symptoms? I know you have to re jet if you go to sock filters. Or should I be looking elsewhere for the problem?
The bike has had a wire-splice and has a mc18 front barrel (but ran fine previously on this setup).
Very lean can appear to cause similar symptoms, so it is quite likely that removing the stock filter entirely without rejetting has caused the problems.
Double check your RC Valve adjustment though.
Oh, and welcome back to the fray Nick!! _________________ Andy.

It'll definitely go pop if you ride it like that. The stock filter is restrictive enough to be worth 3-4 horsepower on removal. Please don't ride it like that! _________________ MC21SP Plaything

Well I found a replacement filter last night and tried that too but still no dice - it starts bogging at 4500rpm on the road, and won't rev over 6-7000rpm - although the exhaust note seems to 'pop' more at idle now.
Any tests I can do? I have got a wideband O2 meter at the workshop so I might try that next.
Looks like the carbs are coming back off though! _________________ MC21se
