Devcon F is meant to be good, if a bit pricey. (http://www.lawson-his.co.uk/scripts/products.php?cat=Devcon%20Metal%20Filled%20Epoxies

JB weld is OK, but pretty runny for ports, Loctite metalset can work, but is unreliable when I tried it.

Bluetac?

Devcon is very good, it sets SOLID and is hard to distinguish from the aluminium around it when you run your finger over it. I have also used some cheap equivalent that i got from Halfords but that failed and never felt completely hard, atleast when compared to Devcon.

If all you are doing is smoothing airways then the cheap stuff is probably fine. If you are raising ports with a piece of aluminium and are using putty to fill around then get the good stuff. Also, never rely entirely on any putty to hold things in place, always find a way of bolting down the piece of metal (or whatever) you are using to raise the port. The putty can fail due to vibration. In fact, just get Devcon regardless of its price, coz it rocks.

Steve, Devcon is good, and there are a few alternatives. I don't use Devcon because I've found an epoxy that works just as well and sets faster. I've tried about 10 brands of epoxy metal and many just don't seem to be up to the job of living inside a two stroke mota on full volume. I've even had Devcon start to peel off.

Remember what I said about drilling the casing and maybe even using screws or something to hold it all together. Better to butcher a set of F3 cases than destroy an F3 crank cos the epoxy fell off!

One tip. All epoxies that I've tried have a various amount of shrinkage while curing. With this in mind I give the epoxy at least 48 hours to cure, even though it looks and feels ready to cut in about 12.

Don't know if this is of any benefit, but we did a lot of work on epoxies at uni and we used some of the companies listed below... The first one, Durabond, for instance is rated at 260 deg centigrade, which is more than double the limit of the Devcon, and is also a machinable aluminium putty.
