If you've bought a KMH to MPH gearbox thingy, then you don't need an overlay. All you need is the neat sticker with 'MPH' written on it to stick over the word KMH on there currently.

But you have just got a convertor, why would you want to change the clock face? Confused

Speedo has no influence on the MOT.

Where as you would have been showing 60kms it will now be 60mph instead. The mileage upto the point you fitted the convertor will still be kms, but from now on will be in miles, just keep a note of it for when you come to sell it.

Or calculate how many miles the bike has done and reset the odometer to that figure. This is not illegal. It only becomes illegal if you pretend to the next buyer that the milage is lower - so tell them what you've done and there's no problem! Wink

just phoned a copper mate and he said that "it is an offence to alter the odometer reading by any means, or add any device that will alter the odometer reading from the original form of odometer the vehicle was first registered with "

so he is saying that the converters are illegal Evil or Very Mad

are you sure about that...? it's common practice for grey/jap import car retailers to add electronic converters AND reset the odo to show the original Km in miles. This mod gets through the SVA test no problem...

Yes its an offence to alter the mileage of a vehicle, but your not doing that, your making the speedo give you a speed in mph instead of kmh. No one has mentioned altering the mileage of it, which I think everyone knows is illegal. It simply means that from when you fit it, it will clock up in miles rather then kms. Nothing illegal with that! Smile

i,ve no clue if my mate is telling me a load of shite or not.
so agree with you lads, never the less i will leave the clock as is and just fit the converter and take down the km,s. i cannot afford to get fooked over by any more speed cams.

What he's told you is the truth, its an offence to alter the mileage. But like I said, your not doing that. Wink

Speedo! cut the swine off!

Ive taken mine off and andy is working on the same F3 style set up as me now. You know when youve done 60 miles cos you grind to halt... thats why we have a reserve on the tank. The only thing these bikes need are a rev counter and a temp guage.
