How do you know if the barrels need a replate

Im using this Se as a test bed for doing rebuild and STUFF lol, Anyway, while im waiting for the clutch tools to arrive, im thinking of having a look at the top end to see if it needs doing, Iv had a look in the workshop part of this site and its real good, also how to set the rc servo its all good stuff, But i cant see how to identify if the barrels need replating? Is that part of the ring measurement?? in otherwords if the gap is to big and you have new rings, it means your barrels are worn? The SE is gona get a ground up overhaul over winter which will help me learn and prepare myself for any work that may come up on the R, so once the gearbox is done, ill look at the heads and barrels, (oh yeah Ill check the tolerance in the crank while the barrels are off, then its servo adjustment, then electrics and the scary bit (for me) carbs.... hopefully ill have a sweet running bike by the time ive finished and gained some knoweldge..... But anyway how about those barrels how do i tell!

It's easy;

this one does

this one doesn't

Somewhere in between? Well, you'll have to make a decision.
