Anyone know of any reasonably priced aftermarket discs?

Wed Oct 12, 2005 9:13 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

The front discs on my MC18 are down to the legal limit (3.5mm).

I bought some used one's off eBay, from West Coast, advertised as 'Plenty of wear left' for £50 delivered. Get them mic'd when they turned up & one was 3.4mm....the other 3.0mm! Fantastic.

The only aftermarket compnay that i know of that produce them is EBC, but they want about £170 each Sad

Anyone know if anyone else produces them cheaper? Are there any ofther Honda models that share the same discs? CBR400/600?

Thanks in advance.

There is a company called Stelth that make new rotors. They use your old carrier but fit new bobbins (like the brembo ones) i dont have a number for them but i think they are on the web. I once used them on an RC30 and they were really good.

You can buy EBC disks from Zoom Products for 190 a pair if you have a race license. The disks aren't the ones you see advertised, they look shite to be honest, like something off a 80's rat bike! I wouldn’t bother.

I spoke with the guys at ABE and they said they could make some disks to fit the original carriers. Unfortunately they can't make new carriers as they can't machine them that small......or something like that.

I'll dig out the number tomorrow.

Hmm... I wouldn't recommend ABE... Take ages, poor service, poor quality control. A couple of shops I use have even stopped using them.

However, other people I'm sure will have different to say. Just thought I voice my opinion...

You could try the cast iron TYGA rotors and get some adapters made... They're cheap.

Got another email from West Coast, apparently they've sourced another pair. Let's hope they actually have some wear left. Razz
