Will there be any 500's there?!

That'll be a no then! Very Happy
Can't be dealing with all those people and the prices either - Thruxton BSB a couple of years ago was bad enough! I think I'm agoraphobic!! Laughing

Far too much expense this time of year, what with all my other plans of dyno days and track days!

Yeah, but they won't be making the same noise, and no 250 is ever going to be as vicious as a 500!! Sad

The RSW of the Fortuna Honda 250 Team is sweet and Rossi's NSR 500 was nice too. 250cc pole last year was 1:32.4 and a 500 3 years ago did 1:32.8

A 250 V2 will never be a 500 V4 though, no matter how fast they become.

At the end of every season they always said the 500 had reached their peak, their limit, and they couldn't go any faster, and each year they did! I know the 500 most like wouldn't put a lap time in as quick as a MotoGP bike, but I think a "current" 500 (had they too had the last 3 years of development the 250's have had) would be faster than the 250.

Has anyone seen the programme "Bikes Aloud" where the moto journo rides Rossi's 2002/3 RCV? He said the bike was "so friendly, so confidence inspiring, easy to ride and push even as a novice", I don't think he could ever have said that about a 500, and probably wouldn't even ever been allowed to try on one!

It is testament to Honda that such an incredible machine can be built, and that so many riders can exploit it and ride it fast and smooth, but to me the sheer aggression of the 500 is what made it special, even more so the screamer that only the very very top handful of riders could tame.

but you still have to remember that mossie i think his name is, is an EX racer and had ridden just about everything around, i read interviwes after he has smashed up full factory RC45s at cadwell.

i recon if you put someone on my NSR (either of em) and then on my CBR which are similar power outputs they would say that the CBR was more confidece inspiring and easier to ride than the 250, they are the characteristics of a 2 and 4 stroke.

i think you are right if the 500s were still around they would still break the lap record wherever they are every year, and would be faster than the 250 for sure Very Happy
