Wheels?

Sun Jul 03, 2005 7:20 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Are there any wheels that will fit straight into the MC21 swingarm, that are not actually made for the NSR? ie: Will a CBR400 wheel fit etc...??

Cheers

Er... why? Confused

MC18, but that's an 18x4" wheel, so you'd be going backwards there.

An RS250 wheel will fit, but may require different (HRC/F3) spacers.

MC21 wheels aren't exactly difficult to get hold of. Put a "wanted" in Classifieds! Smile

They go for silly money tho dont they!?

I want it as I'll be using the bike for track and road, and want slicks for the track, and I dont want to be messing about with changing tyres all the time, so want slicks already on a pair of wheels.

Wander if a CBR600 wheel will go in?

barry, you will pay as much for a set of 29 wheels as you will 21, none of the other honda 400s will help as they are either 18" rear or single sided and CBR600 will be to wide.
i think 29 wheels will go on but you do have to make a few mods to make em fit.
i think drsnider was selling some 21 wheels a while ago, maybe he still has em Very Happy

Luke F may have a pair of wheels to sell at some point, but they are currently earmarked for use with the 2 chassis Martin will be using to build the race pipes around.

Of course, that depends on how desperate Luke is for cash this week, or how much you want to pay for wheels!! Wink

Oi granty not that desperate today any how....

If your going to track your bike with slicks get an NC30 front wheel it bolts straight ion inc disks and is 3.5" so can take slicks, also if your going to use the skinny stock rear your only option for slicks is the dunlop KR108 155/60/17 or the Brigstone battalax slick 155/60/17, not easy to come buy and not cheap but made foe the job,

luke

granty that chassis will make a good pipe jig if it makes it through llandow!!

Got 2 other chassis lined up as jigs Luke. An MC18 and an MC21/28. Only 1 front-end though, and only 1 set of wheels!

Cheers Luke, some good info.

I dont 'need' slicks, no. But want to use them for track.

Luke, could you recomend a different rear wheel that would fit without too much hastle and take a 160?

Wink

well granty all you need now is a ns400 and 16 and you will have jigs for them all, "Granty boy pipes" has a kind of ring to it.

Back to wheels, I have a techno magneso in the rear of me 21 and it slotted kinda straight in but had to have the spoket carrier machined down to fit and the cush drive brushes were allso a bugger if i remember. not that hard but iam sure if its what you want go down a breakers yard with your rear wheel and see what other honds are like even if the disk holes are not the same the overall diameter maybe and everything can be off set this way and that with a good machine shop.

My 21 has a cbr 600 front wheel. The nsr disks bolt right on. The hub looks the same as the stock 21 wheel. I'm running Pirelli slicks 120 in front and using the stock rear rim with a 160. I know this is not the best set up i would like to find a rs250 rear wheel at some point. I've done 3 trackdays on the bike and I think it handles just fine. Very Happy
