Holy crap! I had immense trouble getting my pin out but if it's seized onto the rod I hate to think what you've done to it.
Maybe you could put a clamp around the piston squeezing perpendicular to the axis of the pin.

Laughing no I think you've misunderstood or I have not explained myself correctly Confused

I have taken out the gudgeon/wrist pin both sides (green) but cannot get the centre pin (RED) out Do I knock it out or does it come out some other way?

Boil the kettle and make a cup of tea!

Once you've done that, immerse a rag in the hot water left in the kettle. Wrap the hot rag around the piston and then try to remove the gudgeon (wrist) pin. The heat from the rag is often enough to expand the piston just enough to free the pin.

Failing that, use a puller. If a pin puller isn't available you can, in extreme circumstances, tap the pin out, but make sure the con-rod is very well supported so as not to put the big end bearing under undue load.

Tapping the pin out is definitely a 2-man job; one to support the con-rod/piston, one to do the tapping... tapping being the operative word!!

You need a pin puller like Andy said or you can make your own. Check out Jaime's site under the Technical and go to the Top End Rebuild page. It has a page picture of basically what it looks like. All you need is a long bolt and a piece of pvc and some washers and nuts. I made one and it works great.

And some chewing gum, duct tape, and a zip tie.

Hmm sounds like Macgyver making a weapon or something?

I actually had this same problem with my girl friends MC21 that seized at the last race. had to "drive" it out with someone supporting the conrod.

If I had a choice, I would rather have used a puller, but didn't have the right parts to put one together.

I think I should do that as a just in case tool for the future.

thanks,

I used some old nuts and bolts lying around to pull it. In retrospect i should've just measured it and gone to a hardware shop and bought the exact bits, it would've been about the same time but much less painful.

Hey, that looks so much like the damage that happened to tam's cylinder/piston!

I can tell you what caused her seize, but don't let her know that I know Smile

Thanks,
