Really Dumb Question

Fri Oct 27, 2023 9:15 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Does anyone have a trick for accessing the float bowl drain screws other than removing the carbs? On my bike there is a bump on the crankcase that blocks access to the screw on the right hand/front cylinder carb. And the frame etc. etc. blocks access to the drain screw on the left carb.

Thanks to all who respond

Carb drains

Sat Oct 28, 2023 11:43 am » Post: #2 » Download Post

I've yet to find an easy way. I did consider putting small valves at the end of the hoses then leaving screws open so they would be easy to drain, but then i decided that might not be very safe. So, I take the carbs off. It's a bit easier because I don't have the air box anymore, but I think we all feel your pain.

What model? I don't have any problems with my MC21, but like Eric, no airbox. (Just pod filters.) Just need a long thin driver.

Something like this...

Thanks Eric & Andy. MC18 frame, MC28 engine but carbs are for MC18. I'll look for a screw driver like that, hopefully with a bit of flex in the shaft.
