Mc18 r2j to rk5 exhaust swap

Fri Feb 03, 2023 1:42 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi guys I have swapped the pipes on my r2j to the later rk5 and made some brackets as the rear subframes are obviously different. Do you guys recommend that I reject the carbs to suit or is the difference negligible. Jim

Hi Jimmyr2j,

Welcome to NSR World. Jetting is not discussed in this section. I believe it is discussed in the members section. As with any modification(s), no matter how small, you should check and re check your jetting.

Hi Jim, and welcome to NSR-WORLD.

As Sami says, we don't allow jetting discussion in the public area, for silly historical reasons. Further qualifying Sami's post, it is indeed absolutely recommended that the jetting is carefully checked whenever any modification is made. There's generally quite a large [rich] margin built into the stock jetting to cover a wide range of atmospheric and topological conditions, but I wouldn't rely on those stock settings to be suitable to also cover mechanical changes.

If you check the standard carb settings in the Technical Resources section, you'll see they're quite different, so I strongly advise initially taking care.

Wait it took you 8 years to post. What a hero. You're technically here longer than me. Best of luck with the build
