Nsr250 engine rebuilds

Fri Jun 19, 2020 10:18 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi,
Who are the best people to rebuild my mc21 engine?
Despite being told it was freshly rebuilt and sound , it wasn’t.
I could do it myself but cost/time etc come into it.

Cheers.

I’ll take that as a definite, do you offer a guarantee?

Steve at Performance Engineering in Plymouth is quite probably the best in the country for NSRs.

St. Neots would probably do it too, and turn out some fantastic restorations, however they're focussed on GP250s, not street bikes. While the NSR motor is very similar to the RS in many ways, it's not a given that RS specs and procedures directly transfer. Steve, on the other hand, has intimate knowledge of both the NSR and GP motors.

Sorry to hear that Chris, so sad , cause the engine was perfect when I sold it, but it seems along the way it has been got at badly, I could never understand why the chap that bought it off me felt the need to go messing with a perfectly sound motor, it seems to have gone downhill from there, so hoping you can get it sorted properly.

That's a real shame Zeus, you were quite a good way along your refurb if I remember right.
Keep us informed of how you get along, soon be back in one piece!

Andy, Cheers I’ll contact Performance Engineering.

Les, I never understood that either!

Max, I’ve not done a refurb, it was bought supposedly done, I’ve just checked and adjusted things like the oil pump being set very lean!

At the risk of Andy banning me, I may do another super mono conversion. Ive done a few on Rgvs in the past and they ride well.
It will all have to wait until probably next year now, this pandemic has really screwed my business. Lots in the same boat though I guess.
Cheers
Chris.
