I bought a new Crankshaft

Fri Mar 06, 2020 4:06 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi guys, I bought a new crank last week. Mine was okay (I think) but I thought id just change it seen as the whole engine was apart. I had my suspicions that the seal was going on it anyway.

I bought the crank from GT performance and mentioned that I was a member here and they kindly gave me a 10% discount which I was over the moon with. I searched around and I found GT performance to be the cheapest for a brand new in the box Crank. Im going to send my old crank to them to get redone now too because I found them so helpful. The rebuild/restoration of the bike and engine is going great. we're almost there.

I love it prelude... "The rebuild/restoration of the bike and engine is going great. we're almost there."
Yet the crank has just arrived in a cardboard box Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

It just shows how far stripped down it has been and how properly it has been done...good work, soon be crackling down the road! 👍

Are you aiming for a brand new look and feel or a sympathetic refurb...or maybe somewhere in the middle?

An MC21 found me in October last year and I decided to go for a "deep clean" over winter, whilst refreshing parts that need it to MOT & run safely. I want it to look period for this year, run it around a bit and then decide what to do next winter. Maybe spend the big bucks then (yet it's still cost a bob or two to get to where I am now!)

I think they look best in silhouette and period colours. TYGAs latest NSR500V kit looks great though, but I say it's a bit like having a Ferrari... your first has to be original and red! The second one, all bets are off!

So, best you each go and find a second NSR! Laughing

You will have to ask nicely. GT's policy [from the MD] is no discount on parts, so you do have to be nice to Nicky in the parts department. She responds well to chocolate... just saying! Wink
